Name: INGRAM, Nicholas Race: white State: Georgia Executed: Apr 7th, 1995 Method: Electrocution Crime: murder ------------------------------------------------------------ Nicholas Ingram, a british citizen, was sentenced to death for a murder committed during a burglary in 1983, when he was aged 19. According to newspaper reports, Ingram had committed the offence during an alcohol-induced blackout. Ingram claimed that, due to alcohol-induced memory loss, he was unaware whether he committed the murder or not. Doubts had been raised about evidence identifying Ingram as the assailant. The survivor of the attack described her assailant as having long hair and a hairy chest; Ingram had neither. She identified Ingram "on the fourth attempt". Ingram's fingerprints were not found at the murder scene. Ingram was arrested on the same day as the offence and had worn the same clothes all day; his clothing bore no blood stains or signs of violence.
Electrocution Electrocution produces visibly destructive effects as the bodys internal organs are burned; the prisoner often leaps forward against the restraining straps when the switch is thrown. The body changes colour, the flesh swells and may even catch fire. The prisoner may defecate, urinate or vomit blood. Witnesses always report that there is a smell of burning flesh.
